Crockhet is an activity of creating fabric by interlocking loops of yarn, thread, or strands of other materials using a crochet hook. The name is derived from the French term crochet, meaning 'small hook'. They are made of materials such as material, wood, or plastic and are manufactured commercially and stated in artisan workshops. The salient difference between crochet and knitting, beyond the implements used for their production, is that every stitch in crochet is completed before proceeding with another one, while knitting keeps a large amount of stitches open at the same time. (Variant varieties such as Tunisian crochet and broomstick lace keep multiple crochet stitches open at a time.Basic materials necessary for crochet are a hook and some type of material that will be crocheted, mostly yarn or thread. Yarn, one of the most commonly used materials for crocheting has differing weights which need to be taken into consideration when following habits. Additional tools are convenient for keeping stitches counted, calculating crocheted fabric, or making related accessories. Examples include cardboard cutouts, which can be used to make tassels, fringe, and a great many other items; a pom-pom circle, used to make pom-poms; a tape measure and a measure solution, both used for measuring crocheted work and keeping track of stitches; a row counter; and occasionally clear plastic rings, which are used for special assignments. Lately, yarn options have shifted beyond man made and vegetable and animal-based fibers to add bamboo, qiviut, hemp, and banana stalks, to name a few.
